6 steps to check whether an AC adapter is working properly

Use the following steps to determine if the power supply is functioning properly
Step 1 - Check the adapter, power cord and computer for personal injuries

Check the power supply and cable for physical damage such as fraying or cuts. Also check the Dell Inspiron 1525 AC Adapter for signs of damage or overheating.

Check the DC-pin connector on the computer to make sure that the pin is not bent or broken. If the pin is broken, contact HP for technical support.

Check to see if there are no obstructions or foreign objects inside the DC plug.

Check if ID Center pin is straight and not slanted to the DC plug.
Step 2 - Make sure the outlet works

Unplug your AC adapter from the outlet and plug in a small lamp or other device that you know works, great.
If you are using a power strip, follow the same instructions as in the last step for your power strip.
If one of the sockets no power, then test the lamp or other device to a different outlet.

Step 3 - Disconnect and re-assemble the network cable and power supply

Remove and reconnect the power cord from the power supply.
Connect the power cord to the Dell Studio 1735 AC Adapter. Be sure the power cord into the connector provided for power supply.

ATTENTION: adapter may cause shutdown and remain without power through conditions, overcurrent, overtemperature and short circuit can. To restore the adapter output, unplug the adapter from the AC input for about 5 seconds and plug it again.
Step 4 - Connect the power adapter to the PC

Remove the primary (and secondary) battery from the notebook PC.
Plug the power adapter directly into a working electrical outlet. Do not connect a power strip, surge protector or secondary power source.
Make sure that the lights on the Dell Inspiron 1545 AC Adapter
LED when plugged into an electrical outlet.
NOTE: Some power supplies have no light.
Connect the other end of the adapter into the computer.
Make sure that all power cables are securely connected.
If the power supply connection to the laptop is loose, the plug or the system board may be damaged and need repair. Contact HP service and support for further assistance.

If the power supply is broken and the computer is under warranty, the manufacturer. If the computer is no longer under warranty, order a Dell Inspiron E1705 AC Adapter.
Step 5 - Verify that the notebook gets from the adapter

NOTE: Some HP notebooks, the LED is not lit on one energy state. For other HP notebooks may multicolor LEDs to do the different energy states. To determine the functionality of the LEDs on the notebook you will find in the manual that came with the notebook.

Connected to the power supply is, for every LED lights visible on the front, top or side of the notebook PC. If an LED is lit then the power supply to work properly.
Some laptops have a power indicator light in the area close to electricity. If this light, then the Dell Inspiron 5150 AC Adapter to work properly.

Press the power switch on the computer.

Check to see if it lights on the power switch or power LED when the computer is turned on.
If the power LED is on, then the power supply to work properly.
If the Power LED is off, the power supply must be replaced.

Step 6 - Make sure the battery icon in the taskbar
Windows will tell if the power supply is functioning properly by checking the battery icon in the taskbar.

Connected to the AC adapter to the PC, the battery-charging icon, that the power supply is working properly and has enough power.

Connected to the AC adapter to the PC, a battery icon is one of the following conditions:

The power supply is not functioning properly.
If the power supply is broken and the computer is under warranty, replace the Toshiba Satellite A200 Charger with the appropriate replacement part. If you purchased a replacement AC adapter and the computer does not need to guarantee order a replacement power supply.
The power supply does not have enough power to recharge the battery and run the offer notebook PC at the same time.
Instruct the customer to use the Toshiba Satellite A300 Charger that came with the notebook PC for better performance. If the customer needs a replacement adapter, order a replacement power supply.
